About Slow Food Santa Cruz
Slow Food Santa Cruz is one of almost 200 local chapters of
Slow Food U.S.A., each called a "convivium,"
that carry out the Slow Food mission on a local level.
Slow Food International
was founded in 1986 in Bra, Italy. Slow Food U.S.A. is a non-profit
educational organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating the
food traditions of North America.
Slow Food U.S.A. believes that pleasure and quality in everyday life
can be achieved by slowing down, respecting the convivial traditions of
the table, and celebrating the diversity of the earth's bounty. Our
goal is to put the carriers of this heritage on center stage and
educate our members on the importance of these principles. Many members
enjoy participating in online conversations through
Slow Food Forums. We hope you will join us!
The members of Slow Food Santa Cruz are a diverse group of food
enthusiasts with a curiosity about food traditions and heritage and
local artisanal products. Members include home and professional chefs,
caterers, growers, vintners, restaurateurs, food educators, and lots
of ordinary people and families that like to cook and eat.
